    Gilded Idol

I made this a few years back, right after CS when things were selling for crazy prices on eBay, and thought it worth sharing again.

I found an inexpensive (around $30 for the cast and $10 for the leaf) unfinished resin idol and gave it a gold leaf treatment. The raw casting needed minor work; filling, sanding and removing a molded on head band. After cleanup and paint the leaf was easy to apply. It looks as good today as when I finished it - better than the photos. I prefer the finish to the plated, smooth idols; leaf is closer to what a real Peruvian idol would look like!

I remember this when you "premiered" it. Still looks terrific.

But...it had a head band? Like an Olivia Newton-John head band?
Out here not knowing a dang thing.

The gold leaf does look more 'real' than the polished looking versions. In colour too.

Not a bad looking cast for $30. Good score.
I really like the gold leaf affect. Makes it look more like a real relic.

    Great job!
