>:DI started making bullwhips for the local whip community here. I priced them really cheap so people here (cowboys and rodeo enthusiasts) in the Philippines would be able to afford them.

A 4.5 ft black bullwhip with some red knots.

Here's a link to my blog, it's now mostly about whips now, but there are other stuff there too.

How long does it take you to make each whip.

If there are no distractions, I can finish a 6ft whip in a day... But usually it takes me 2-3 days because I stop at each layer, especially when I have other things to do.

The cost of my whips only cover the material cost and then some... I'm not really making money from it. I just want to provide my whip group over here an affordable alternative. That and because I'm not yet that good in making whips...

There are small errors in my plaiting; sometimes there are gaps, sometimes the plaiting twists a bit (although before it was worse - I made a whip that twisted 360-degrees!), no turks head knot, etc.

I guess you could say that I'm just making whips for the love of the sport. :)

It might be fun to reach out to Joe Strain. Maybe send him one of your whips and ask for some tips.

Well, slowly getting there. The gaps are due to my impatience - dropping strands too soon and not noticing until the whip's almost done. The twisting, I'm slowly fixing that by making sure to pull with equal pressure on each side (and paying attention when I plait). Slowly getting there... Each whip I make is an improvement from the previous ones.

It's nylon, there are pretty much a lot of colors available. I've noticed that most Filipinos love colorful whips.
