Re: What Price Glory "Indiana Jones" pants

"Squeezed the trigger" and purchased a pair of the What Price Glory "Indiana Jones" pants. Considering the questionable sizing experience with Todd's Costume pants, I purchased the largest size available as a precaution with the notion of having a tailor taken in the waste. This particular pair is a size 46.

Here are some pictures taken indoor with a flash.

My preliminary review of the pants as follows.

The pants are true to size. Thus, this pair will definitely have to have the waist be taken in for me to wear it along with shortening the inseam. These pants are a 100% wool and VERY substantial in weight. I own a Todd's costumes, a Magnoli Clothiers, and a Noel Howard M.B.A. version of these pants. What Price Glory's version is THE heaviest in weight out of all of them. Wearing these pants during the summer would NOT be recommended. Does not appear to have a military hem which is not an issue for me. As you can see in the pictures, the rear pocket flaps are not as scalloped as a pair of the Todd's Costume's, Magnoli Clothiers, or Noel Howard M.B.A. pair. I plan on asking the tailor who will be doing the waist and length alterations if they could scallop the pocket flaps. Also, there are no suspender buttons on the inside of the pants as with a Todd's Costume's version.

In summary, the pants are okay. Once I get these pants altered in order for me to actually wear, then I can provide a true review.

    Hope this somewhat helps.

Pockets look really oddly small and the flaps don't have that scalloped look to 'em.

Actually the pockets remind me a lot of a genuine pair of military pants I own. They're similarly small and unscalloped. Also these, like my genuine military slacks, don't have the slanted darts above the pocket.

So then, here's my guess for what they did:

They took their pattern for military pinks and pleated them. That's it. These aren't Indy pants. They don't have the details. And I feel less concerned about them not being in my size now.

Iahan, considering all you have to get done to these, might it be better to exchange them for a better size?

"RC", actually still deciding if I may just return the pants outright. They are well constructed pants but, the weight of these 100% pants is the factor. As stated on WPG's website, these pants will definitely withstand being dragged behind a truck for they are thick and heavy.

Great for fall and winter season wear. As for spring and summer season wear, not so much.

Great review IAHAN. I really like the color and to me they vibe the correct look. Your description of the weight sounds very much like the eastman's pants. I've found once you get used to the thicker heavier material it's not so bad and then when you wear the Todd's it feels like the lighter weight is fragile. Also, I've worn the eastman's in 100 degree F temp and found they are surprisingly still comfortable to wear. Isn't the property of wool supposed to keep you cool in hot weather and warm in cool weather. I live in a dry climate though, so I don't know yet how uncomfortable the heavier wool may feel in a humid summertime climate.

Got my Todd's back from the tailor. Very, very pleased. Completely fixed all the issues with the Todd's fit. Took pics and will get them posted. I'm glad I got the Todd's now. They are very versatile and along with the color make for great other than Indy wear. Try them with black converse sneakers and a thicker weave shirt like linen.

Thank you, "neutronbomb". Again, still on the fence on what I what to do with the pants. If I do keep them, will exchange them for the proper size. So, once again, we'll see.

With the very limited number of vendors offering "Indiana Jones" pants, just thankful that I was able to obtain two pairs of Todd' Costumes pants, which are my favorite, and two pairs of "second hand" Magnoli Clothiers pants. And will probably order a pair from Wested Leather.

FYI, I spoke to Todd Coyle at "WonderCon" in Anaheim, CA this year and, if I remember our conversation correctly, he was looking at an alternate company to produce the pants so he could offer them once again. But, at that time, everything was still in the preliminary stage.

I'm going to combine and move some of these threads to different sections. Like the gear guide or show your gear. Just a heads up if you see stuff moved.

I sent the "sample" pair of trousers to WPG a while back. The pair supplied to WPG was a mid 90s "Raiders" pair in a size 34 waist. I had added extra belt loops and supplied some notes about improving the rear pockets. It looks like Malik just counter sampled the pair i supplied without revisions.
The Noel Howard trousers definitely leaned towards the grey side of things.
