The natural thought is probably for the story to progress in time. Move into the 1960s.
I wonder just what that would bring and how they would develop Mutt in it. Personally I think they would lose the series if Mutt were to become 'Indiana Jones'
They could move back in time, CS hinted that Indy worked in the OSS during WW2. There may be some good stories there, but is Harrison Ford up to going back a decade or two (from the time period of CS)?
they could always take the years off him with CG as they did with actors in x3, benjamin button, love guru........make for a pricey movie for sure.
so if he goes back in time....would his jacket be sporting a 'cooper' label........![]()

currently on day 9 of my "20 days in the cooler".
I'd love to see one of the Indy Novels come to life! I really enjoyed "Army of the Dead" by Steve Perry. It would fit in with Harrison's age and takes place not long before CS so the time period would work. Plus, it would be incredibly cool to see Indiana Jones and Mac battling some ghoulish, grotesque flesh-eating zombies. I can understand though why Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford would be so hesitant with the screen-plays. One wrong choice and it could ruin the whole series (but take too much time like it took for CS and it also ruins things). Choices, choices...
Lucas is really big on the MacGuffin though. I'm not sure Army of the Dead had a strong enough MacGuffin to suit him.
I didn't think the book was that bad, but, unfortunately, the parts on the villains were more interesting than those dealing with Indy.
Out here not knowing a dang thing.
DSS: Thats where I think they should just crank 'em out like Bond movies. (Or should have) If you don't like one, you always know there's another on the way you may like better.

RC Signals - I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I'm so thankful Spielberg made it so that Indy took the hat away from Mutt before he could put it on. If Lucas decides to make Mutt the new Indy (and I'm afraid his ideas are actually that wacky), I'll be one of those "walk-outs".
Gunslinger: I agree with you as well that I don't think it would've hurt the series to churn out a few more. I mean, we've read enough on these forums to know that even out of the original three there's people that didn't like at least one of them. So what good did it do to be so hesitant about treading lightly on fans' feet? But I think the general consensus is (again - an 'assumption') that if they make Indy V, it should be set back in time to say the mid- to late-40's or early 50's. Going into the 60's, I feel, would be catastrophic! Imagine Indy in what would be a very out-dated garb mingling with HIPPIES smoking hashish! Sorry, but watching that would put me in the hospital literally.
i figure if they make the movie they could dye harrison's hair brown and go back ten years for the forties , i think he can pull that off.
True. I was reading somewhere though that in an interview, Ford explained how Spielberg and Lucas were really fretting over whether to dye Ford's hair and try to make him look younger. Ford's explanation was a combination of explicatives and stating that he wanted to be himself and told them both to quit worrying about it and just let Indy be older-looking. So whether Ford would be willing to do that, only time will tell should they decide to go that route. But even Ford's face is older-looking and worn as can be expected of his age bracket and the "miles" of his life's achievements; it would take some well-done makeup to reverse that and with all the sweating he does in the films, having all that make-up on may run. But either way would be fine with me I guess - just bring back Indy and a really good storyline!![]()
