    Re: Blade Runner 2

Interesting. Given the issues Ford had with making the original classic, it's nice to hear him say that he's open to exploring the furthering of the story. As others said in the comments, it's not likely he would be the main lead, but to have Deckard there in some capacity would be cool.

On a side note, now that we're pretty close to 2019 ourselves it's interesting to see how far off the future technology was in the film. Perhaps 2029 would have been better in hindsight. Of course, when the movie came out in '82, 2019 was still almost 40 years away, which is quite a while for technological advancement, though obviously not to the degree depicted.

Starting to look serious. This was posted today http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/05/1...son-ford-back/

The producers are currently making an offer to Harrison Ford.

This is interesting, considering how for years HF has said he had a terrible time on the first blade runner, and he and Scott didn't see eye to eye or get along. It's a film he didn't enjoy making.

Guess time heals all wounds.....so does lots and lots of money.

If this is indeed true, hopefully it's the "damn good" script that lured Ford to the project. So often though you read about movie honchos singing the praises of the script, and then it turns out to be garbage, or at least not as good as we were led to believe. (Take Prometheus, which the article calls a "fan-favorite". While I really like the movie, in my experience, most of the fan reaction has been vehemently negative).

It'll also be interesting to see where the character of Deckard is at the time of the sequel. One would assume that Rachel has expired by now, but what is he doing? Is he living in a cabin out in the wilderness? What is it that lures him back into the plot of the movie? Does Gaff track him down? If the movie is as "damn good" as Scott says, it'll be exciting to find out!

And most importantly, will Vangelis return to do the score?? It almost wouldn't be a Blade Runner without his unique music accompanying the visuals.

The return of Deckard presents an interesting question, because

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT - DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE

There has been speculation that Deckard himself was a replicant. In fact, several points in the movie seem to indicate this. If that's the case, how do they explain Deckard still living after all these years? Or, are they going to go with the theatrical version and say He ran off with Rachel to go live in that forest? Even so, they'd have to recast Rachel because replicants don't age, and Sean Young just isn't young anymore, and also because Ford hated her guts.

Didn't Rachel have an expiry date as well, or was extra longevity something that Tyrell programmed into her? (I really need to watch the movie again, it's been a while) If not...well, maybe another blade runner tracked her down years earlier and "retired" her.

    SPOILER ALERT!

Depends on which version you watch- in the theatrical version, you have the voice-over explaining that Gaff left Rachel alive because he figured she was going to expire anyway, but Tyrell told Deckard she had no expiration date. In all other versions of the film, Rachel has an expiration date... and so does Deckard, if you believe he too is a replicant!

Ford also didn't really care for Han Solo either and wanted him to die from the Carbon freezing in ESB.... so yeah...time and money...and all that lol.
