Re: What's your favorite Mexican Food?

There was a great Mexican restaurant around here years ago. It was literally a one room shack just off a main road. The food was as authentic as I believe it could've been, especially compared to all the other Americanized Mex I've had over the years.

The place was just in an odd location, and very small. I guess they couldn't stay afloat in this world of Taco Bell and Cactus Grill, and the other small shops that have to stay close to the taste of those two chains.

"North-Americanized?" Where do you imagine Mexico is, exactly?

The best mexican food I can think of is this little taco place on the border of Covina and Azusa here in good old SoCal.
I can't remember the name or if it even had one (the only sign on the front of the place simply read "Tacos"), but, it was as authentic as it got.
Tacos were 50 cents a piece, burritos a dollar, and you got your choice of meat; pork, beef, chicken, tongue, brain, cheek... the usual stuff.
On Sunday mornings, they sold homemade menudo for the hung-over.

I'm sure he meant 'United-Statesized.' Does that work better for you?

Re: What's your favorite Mexican Food?

Sorry guys, the best Mexican food on the planet is on my dinner table. My wife is from Puebla, Mexico and mole is my favorite Mexican food hands down and she makes the best. I have eaten mole in Puebla and many restaurants around and nothing beats what she makes.

I say that if you want authentic as you can get without being in Mexico or at my house for dinner, go to most any local street vendor/store/ taqueria adn you will get better than at a restaurant. Don't be afraid, just go in.

Touche! I was just trying to avoid saying "Americanized" since Mexico is part of America. Maybe "United Statezied"?

Mole is a sauce, different from guacamole . Correct me if I'm wrong

I'm sure Bryan can explain it better than I
