Hi gang,
I've owned these for approx two years and they've had moderate wear.
When they first arrived (pic 1 ) I applied a slightly darker shade of leather dye and a great deal of Ko Cao line leather dressing.
As I collect in LC style I did not want them to go too dark. Hope you like.

It's tempting to go mad with the distressing but they're such good quality boots and quite expensive
so i've resisted so far.
Cheers,
JTW.
(Nice hobby this, don't you think?)

Looking good Jones! Mine are a similar colour ( which you would have seen if I hadn't forgotten them last august! ). I clean them with pecards and the odd application of brown leather cream. Great boots and far too good to scuff up without reason :)

Hi buddy, hope you are well.
I've found that if you cover them with fullers earth powder it makes them look dirty but at the same time it's easy to clean off.
Cheers,
JTW.

Jones, you have those looking great. You've put a lot of work into them.

No Indy outfit can truly be complete without a pair of these.
When I look through "full gear" threads and see "close enough" boots, it just does'nt do it for me.
It's not that i'm a SA nazi or anything (what with my hat?) it's just that IMO the costume is missing a substantial element without the 405's.
Cheers,
JTW.

I just think they're great boots... Really comfy and practical. They are my favourite boots for hiking in, and despite the flat soles, I've always found them grippy enough on any surface

I have to agree (again) about the comfort and versatility of 405's. I wear them more than any other boots in the cold wet winters here because they never fail, and I they get thrashed regularly at work. This is my second pair after 1.5 winters on my feet and no artificial distressing. They are overdue for another anointment of Pecards.

Man, that is serious wear. :o
It's ironic is'nt it, that even with this much scuffing they still look totally awesome.
Nice one,
JTW.

IMO the more beat up they get the better they look...
