So, I went and bought some thick merino sheepskin leather tanned in France, it's probably a little too thick but I liked the level of ribby character and gave it to Peter to make me a 'Hero'. Surprisingly whilst feeling pretty thick it turns out to break easily in and feels very soft.

Note: This is not 'shrunk', in fact it seems to have been ironed to hide the ribs, when you knead and manipulate the leather the grain pops out and it softens.

Peter is on the verge of getting his own leather from his suppliers so get hold of him for the latest on that. He has 2 on the go. A ribby NZ lamb and a tough washed lamb (I don't know what he will call them!).

This is the 'Hero' with me giving him my own buckles and pockets sized for me and I asked for the K stitch. Confirm those little details and you are good to go.

I'll show some pics of it on when I get a chance to take some, it's raining here today.

Probably the best Wested seen to date! The leather is great. It reminds me a great deal of Nowak 747 cowhide but with the ribs. Great jacket but I'll leave discussion of the details to those more skilled than me in that area.

That jacket looks great! Seeing this really makes me want to get a Wested as long as its exactly like this, K-stitch, proper buckles etc. Nice jacket KT.

Ok, so this is my first post here... I think...

Greetings all!

Kt that is one beautiful jacket! I want one of those!
I have long that Wested was a great in between for the custom route. Less than Magnoli and way less than Riley's (all amazing maker BTW) But this latest from Peter is
I think that best, most luxurious (granted you bought the leather) I have seen come out his shop. No if only there was a goat hide that looked like that. I want one of those!

Well done, KT!

The idea of finding the perfect hides yourself and having complete control is quite addictive, isn't it?

Did you specify the panelling / texture placement or leave it to Peter?

Dare I ask if you've had a go at distressing some of the scraps yet?

Terrific looking jacket, KT! Add my vote in with those who have said this is the best looking Wested yet. I was pretty much through with the Indy jackets but I may be drawn back in if his ribby NZ merino looks similar to this. Very, very nice.

GS, yes this is the second one where I've bought the leather myself. My last LC was sourced separately too. :)

There are a lot of dealers around I just have to knuckle down and search.

Cris.... you know you want to!

Looks very good. This is to the 'new' pattern? Is the 'K' stitch not standard for that?

The hide may still be mildly 'shrunk'. What you describe happening with manipulation of it sounds very much like it.
At any rate it again shows the ribby Merino hides are not 'useless' as some have claimed.

You are lucky top get this stuff. I heard the world supply was exhausted..... :sheep:

Oh my! That jacket is nice. I got to get one of those exactly like that (in my size). Please give updates on Peters progress with that type of leather.

It looks terrific! Nice and pronounced, yet more subtle than some of the "over-ribbed" Nowaks.

the details of the jacket are very well proportioned for you Kt. It might be a touch long, hard to tell in those photos, but that might adjust a bit after wearing in the rain.

Well done. :toast:

Oh definitely on neutronbomb's jacket, but that was on purpose for him. I understand the tanner refuses to anything like it again.

It's slightly long for SA, (but mainly cos I'm so short) but I went with the standard length just like my 1st jacket from 2005. Ultimately I've found that works best for me for daily use.

Yeah, being a little longer is better for daily wear. Looks much better on you.

As I said it's proportioned well for you Kt. I know from other discussions getting the absolute fit for you isn't always easy. This one really does it.

I usually get my jackets a little longer than SA because I feel more comfortable in them that way.

It looks terrific, KT. I'm definitely going to have to contact Peter and tell him to get cracking on the NZ ribby lamb for a jacket. He's got an eager customer here!

I hope you don't mind, I'd like to know the lenght of the back and the stormflap (collarstand NOT included)

I guess, too bad most girls don't know the finer points of Indy leathers. Yeah, money does seem to be a game changer, sheesh girls. :hail:

Isn't it though? I could show my wife a Raiders and a Crystal Skull jacket and she would tell me that they're the same jacket.

Isn't all of the glaring differences obvious to everyone? :afro:

Any new updates on the hero pattern or the new leathers (especially the ribby one). I really thought I was done with Indy jackets, but this one is calling out to me.
