View Full Version : My Nowak Raiders of the Lost Arc jacket

So I've been wanting to do a little tribute to Tony's work since his passing...being in the screen seen replica jacket business I had a great admiration for the work Tony was producing. Although life so far has had first priority and I have had little to no time for the rest of the jacket world community over the past month, things are finally starting to calm down so I can devote some time elsewhere again.
I have had a Nowak and many other makers' ROLAs before but was looking for the perfect Raiders for me, so I had discussed a couple of times what I was after with Tony over the phone, but had never brought the jacket to fruition as other jacket projects of my own were taking top slot... then I ran across a jacket I thought had everything I was looking for in it from a fellow member on COW, so I decided to get it and put efforts towards a CS from Tony later :( . I have had the jacket since just before Tony's passing, this is Yojimbo's ROLA he had done early on (#74 with "Raiders" in proper script inside). The jacket, now with a minor sleeve length adjustment, is to ~HF sizing. The completion to my Raiders outfit was COW member Yojimbo's great hat offering, as I feel that the best Raiders jacket I have ever owned needed a proper hat to match.
The pictures aren't the greatest but I hope to add more detailed shots as I set up a proper studio.

??? ??? :P Oh. my. word.

That IS the Raiders jacket. That is the most perfect replica I've ever seen, and I've seen plenty! THAT is the leather that was used - no doubt whatsoever in my mind. I can look and look and look at the screen shots of that jacket in any and every scene in Raiders and the texture yours has is perfect. Just some mild striations and light texture across the panels, but overall, from a camera distance like these, appearing more smooth than "pebbled." And the construction! Right down to finest details - a perfect match for the "Main" jacket!

Am sooo jealous!

Looks fantastic! It fits you really well. I really like that first picture! :)

Very cool man. It's weird though - seeing my old jacket on you, it looks almost identical to the way my new jacket fits on me. VERY weird to see. But bottom line, it looks FANTASTIC on you - you couldn't hope for a better fit.

Just another great look on you Dan (you take some of the best pics around, even when you're just throwing them together as you say).

You also provide a huge impetus for me to drop some weight. I think we're around the same height and arm length is similar, but I'm carrying a twin around my gut. I looked at both of these jackets (this one and your Tod) but had to pass for sizing issues.

Curse you in shape people! >:D

That first pose is especially awesome, just like the movie:

Definitely one of the best Raiders I have ever seen. By the way, what shirt are you wearing?

What hide is it????

Mk2 shrunken lamb.

Yep, to date there's been a Mk1 SL (the original that everyone called "dino hide" at first), the Mk2 (puckered fingertip), the Striated (SSL), and Extra Striated (ESSL - eg Neutronbomb's).

Extra Striated:

Also Extra Striated, but not the Raiders I Pattern (A hybrid pattern)

What a jacket and a fitting tribute to Tony as well. Beat the Sh*t out of it for the big man!

Very nice jacket and outfit overall! I was privileged to obtain a Crystal Skull jacket of Tony's from a member on COW and now with his passing, I'm honored to have that piece. Everything else of the Indy outfit can still be found, but Tony's no longer here to make these for us anymore. Cherish it - mine's locked away in a climate-controlled room with all the safeguards. By the way, where did you get the trousers you're wearing in your pics? With a little tweaking, the back pocket flaps would be spot on. Just curious as I've been doing an extensive amount of research into the Indiana Jones trousers for the past two years trying to track down 100% cavalry twill fabrics that match CS (and, at the same time, the other movies as well) to buy and use, and finding reputable tailors who'll take on the challenge. The search continues but if anyone's interested in my findings thus far, let me know and I'll start a thread.

Please do start a thread! The pants never seemed that difficult to me yet continue to be elusive...

Hey guys, thanks again for the kind words... Looks like the guys in the know have been answering in plenty of detail while I am away from the thread, thanks to you guys especially. Everything has been spot-on in response so far.
As to the shirt, primarily I wore the WhatPriceGlory shirt in a Medium Long, although the last shot was a Todd'sCostumes Large.
As to the pants, those are LL Bean, wrinkle resistant comfort waist... they do the trick for me, thought about altering the pocket flaps at some point but it has not been a priority yet.
The Bag is also from WPG's stock of real deal vintage gas mask bags...spot on in color and distress right outta the package, a $10 Todd'sCostumes bag strap finished it off just right. Also the ROLA holster is from there too. The belt and whip holder I did myself. The whip was from a guy doing runs on THERPF, cracks like a gunshot as people witnessed at last year's D-Con. ;D
Hat is Gunslinger's badassary as I think is mentioned above. 8)

I got one of those vintage gas mask bags from WPG as well, and they are great! Then again, why wouldn't they be? They are the real thing!

PLATON - I am 6' tall, 195 lbs, ~42-44 chest depending how often/hard/heavy I am able to work out(about 43chest now), I can wear 32-34 waist pants with typically a 32" length.
