Here's my 8 ft. 12 plait bullwhip by Gus Caicedo of purewhips.com. I've owned this for just over two years now and while I'm no whip expert, it cracks great and seems really well-built. All I do is add Pecards and the whip does the rest.

The photos were taken when it was new and over time it's darkened to a really nice reddish-brown - kind of shocking as I haven't looked at these photos in a while. It started out in what he calls the "natural" color.

Gus was great to deal with and anyone looking for a decent whip at a fair price might want to check him out. Just visited his web site and he updated it no later than today and seems to be still going strong with a bunch of different products.

I have a Caicedo whip as well. I bought mine second-hand so I didn't deal with Gus directly, but the whip is a really nice one. It's very easy to crack and I'm probably the worst whipcracker out there (almost took out an eye with a eBay "special" one time).

Going by his advertised price, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal. Mine also came in the neutral color. I created a mixture of some shoe polishes and tried to get it more to the color that you see on screen. I think just using it more would help to darken it up.

Man did I beat myself up today - put a big line right down the underside of my arm. Usually I don't hit myself but today my whip bit back a little. Still was fun though.

Nice whip! From videos it sounds like they crack really loud and easily.

That's nothing! ;D I had another whip (not my Caicedo) and promptly almost took out my left eye.

Much like the proverbial horse though, once my Caicedo arrived, I went back out.
