View Full Version : google flagged site as unsafe due to spammer post - false warning

04-21-2017, 10:26 PM
Recently a spammer made it through our screening process and was able to post on the site. I immediately deleted the post and banned the user. However, the spammers post triggered a google warning to come up when clicking on any of our threads notifying that the site may be an unsafe site for phishing, scamming, etc.

I have notified google that this warning is an error and will update when this is resolved. In the meantime, the site is safe. Hosted on a very safe, industry class hosting service.

Have gone thru and removed all members who have never posted. This should eliminate any other spammer sleeper agents that had made it in.

This has become a major pain. Considering options. Will continue to update.

After considering all options, I'm sad to say the site is going to have to move to another hosting service. Will update on progress.

I'm sorry about this.

Yes. Me too. But, I've discovered that google blows. And there's no way that I have the time or expertise to navigate all the bullshit involved with maintaining the system and software to comply with all the hackers, spammers, bots, etc. that keep interrupting the site and getting it flagged, warned, and frozen. So there's no other choice but to shut it down or hand it off to a service to maintain. I've thought about it quite a bit and avoided a strong knee jerk reaction stemming from my frustration over this and am willing to try the 3rd party service. Hopefully everything will come out intact we'll see everyone on the other side.

Thank you so much for all your effort.
I like this forum very much.

I wanted to start a thread about the news on Herbert Johnson and the bespoke offerings in Indy hats.
But I'll wait until you make the server re-location.

Again, thank you!

Nice to see that this problem was eventually solved.

A shame everyone seems to have gone; I liked this place.
