Hi guys,

Apologies if there is a thread elsewhere. However I have bought a Raiders (rabbit felt) fedora from an unnamed source in the last year and not only does it keep losing it's shape but it curls up at the strangest place. When looked at it from above you can see the cut on the brim wasn't round in the truest sense (barely noticeable) but now a slight curl has occurred at those two points. Beside that as mentioned it tends to be lost it's shape quite often.
Does this occur to anyone else? Is this normal?
Thanks in advance!!!

Here are some pictures of the hat. I will upload some more soon. As mentioned it's a rabbit felt hat and tends to be quite floppy, even when handled the shape doesn't easily bounce back. The first image shows the dip or curl.

The 2nd image shows the effect better of the two indents has on the back part of the brim - it causes the that slight dip or curl.

Yes that sort of thing can happen. Peoples heads can be different to the degree of round /ovalness of a given block, so the brim warps. Just belt those spots hard with some steam from a kettle. It will activate the stiffener; and you can reshape it to the right shape with your hand before it sets. Be sure to angle it away from the body though.

You may also need to quickly put it on your head and shape the brim while it's on your head.

I'm sure the maker will help talk you through this if need be.

That brim shape wouldn't worry me too much either.

Thanks for the feedback GS - yes I never thought about the fact that our head shapes are different and that it can potentially warp the brim. I have since re-shaped it so it's much better however I'm wondering perhaps a beaver felt or beaver rabbit mix for a next hat. I have since wet my hat and re-shaped it & dried it so it holds much better.
Is there any product that can be applied as a stiffener?
