Hello to all,

I am a new member to the forum and thought it would be fitting to show you guys my gear in my first post. My jacket is a Wested Raiders pre-distressed cowhide. I got it back in 2003 and I love this thing!

Welcome aboard, bleedingorange! The jacket does indeed look good! The pockets almost seem like the larger Last Crusade size, but maybe it's just the angle. The pre-distressing looks great too, and gives it the implication of "mileage," like it's been on loads of adventures already. The novapelle hide of my Wested LC gives it a nice dusty, used look as well.

And I can't help but notice the Indiana Jones films are first in your DVD collection (as they should be). I do see what appears to be another Indy DVD further along on that same shelf, about midway. Why's that all by itself? :D

This is my second Indy jacket. I had a Wested Raiders lambskin without the pre-distressed treatment that I purchased back around '99 and wore for a few years. Eventually I realized I wanted a more "worn in" Indy jacket. I also felt the lambskin leather was not heavy enough for my liking. I sold it and turned around and bought the pre-distressed Raiders in cowhide. I feel I choose wisely. :whip: It does look very LC as far as the distressing goes, but the fit is all Raiders. I agree the pockets do look big in the pics, guess I never noticed that before.

I have the Indy DVD's as well as the blu-ray discs. For anyone who hasn't experienced the greatness of Indy on blu-ray, I highly recommend the upgrade. The definition is far superior to the DVD versions.

If you look closely at the grail cup, you will notice it has been superglued back together. I had to store it between moves and when I opened up the box it was in, it was in pieces. I guess it just couldn't stand the heat, as the storage locker was not temperature controlled. I was just thankful the fertility idol was still in one piece! I am currently working on a new prop, the Leap of Faith painting. I am doing it myself. I will post pics when it is finished.

I am also looking for a SA Indy shirt. Thinking of gonna go with the What Price Glory one. I contacted Todd's Costumes and they do not have my size in stock, nor do they know when or if they will be restocking the shirt, so that limits my options. I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has recently purchased a shirt from WPG.

Until next time......

For a moment, I thought you were referring to the actual Grail from Last Crusade and you noticed that from the Blu-Ray discs!

I have ordered a WPG shirt, but it has been a few years. My own experience was that it was a sturdy shirt, but it was designed for guys with big bellies, my shirt was incredibly roomy. I took it to a tailor, but he could only take it in a little.

I preferred Magnoli's shirt because they can be tailored to fit your frame and look very good.

I don't care for the Todds and from the look and member comments the WPG either. Noel Howard's is the way to go or an adventurebilt if you can find one. I guess Magnoli next. But find a NH if possible.

I have a NH and an Adventurebilt, NH all the way. The AB is too thick and hard cotton-like I think they over specced the thickness. The NH is smooth soft cotton that wrinkles just right.

I agree. I would like to add though that the AB is a great fitted shirt, well made, pretty SA in overall look, and preferred by some members notably DJD. I owned one before I ruined it accidently with die transfer from wet jeans and wore it more than the NH because I felt it was a stronger material and would hold up more for everyday wear and washings. The true color is wrong though, but it does match some scenes. Which is the general dilema anyway. The true color or how it appears on screen. It seems most vendors pick a color they think it looks like on film. Nothing wrong with that.

The NH is like KT said a much more softer shirt. Also super thin. Best shirt out there and for sure IMO the absolute best true color match. It does feel delicate though and is a very slim fit. I only have one and who knows if I'll ever find another so I am very careful with it and thus don't wear it as much as I would like. It also is by far a more dressy looking shirt with a bit of a sheen to it. I had to take it to my tailor to resew all the buttons on it as the stitching was coming undone. The tailor said it had a mix of polyester in it. The tag says 100% cotton though and KT has explained it is some sort of unique English cotton.

DJD didn't like his and sold it because he thought it was short a bottom button. He is wrong though. That is completely SA. It goes along with the officer pants with a high rise. The extra button on the bottom that other vendors use works better with medium or low rise pants. I figured if it bothered me enough I could just get an extra button added to it.

One of these days I'm going to find a tailor that will do a custom fitted made shirt and have them use it as a template. I will never get a WPG or Todds shirt (very ill fitting) again because they are more like a dickies work shirt. Thick, stiff, bulky, billowy and uncomfortable to tuck in.

Where can one buy the Noel Howard shirt these days? I can't seem to find link for him online?

Did Todds change their shirts dramatically? I have one from years ago and it is dead-on, very thin but also very hardy. I wore it to death as a regular shirt. The fit was perfect. Sounds like they changed both the fabric and the pattern at some stage?

Changed the pattern, the fabric, everything. Biggest problem right now is shrinkage in length when washed... After three routine washes my sleeve length is now 21 3/8 inches from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. The average size large shirt is usually between 24 and 25 inches. The fabric is heavier, but it's only good for a streets of Cairo look, rolled up now.

It's apparent that the shirt used in the films was a thin material. Mangnoli's looks pretty thin, and the material used is not listed in their description. The $125 price tag is not appealing either. Same goes for Wested's offering. I have emailed adventurebilt, but no reply yet. I read somewhere that WPG changed the cut of their shirts to be more form-fitting and are using a thinner cotton material as well. I have read from others that the WPG shirts were too big and too thick, but I have yet to read a recent review of their "supposedly" new version. I have scoured the internet for other vendors and there are lots of what appear to be cheaply made offerings available. Utopiabase has a shirt that looks to have potential. Has anyone heard anything about their shirts? The buttons are wrong, but that would be an easy fix. Here is the link. Let me know what you guys think.

I think it looks pretty nice, good price too. Kinda odd sizing (I usually think of Large as 42-44), but not a big deal. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has picked one up and what they think.
