Back in June, I drove up to Nowak's shop for the big inventory reduction sale, where I met Riley and neutronbomb and K-Wad. Riley's friend (Jay? Jason?) was acting as a sort of guide/salesman so of course I asked about Indy stuff; he said the only thing they had left was this little LC.

Because I have a little Indy of my own, I asked about the price and when he told me, I said, "Sold!"

I kept browsing. Later, someone (it was either Riley or his buddy) handed me a heavy, stiff Raiders jacket.

Turns out it was Tony's personal shiny goatskin Indy I jacket, #022/888. Whoa. (neutronbomb, I just learned today, posted several pictures of himself wearing this very jacket back in 2010: http://www.fortuneandglory.org/forums/threads/326-News-from-TNO-s-Shop)

I tried it on and although it was slightly too big for me, I ended up wearing it a while in the shop. K-Wad and neutronbomb and I were standing around in the office talking to Riley, and Riley looked up at me from his chair and said, "You like that jacket." More of a statement than a question. I had to admit that I did. I had cash with me but hadn't really planned to buy anything, but there was no way I was going to let this piece of history get away. Later I asked Riley what he was looking to get for it and we worked it out. On the advice of the others (and the later reassurance of NB), I had Luis (Nowak's head sewing guy) snug it up in the chest and shoulders. It's godawful stiff, but everyone said it will soften as I wear it.

When I went back on Monday to pick it up, I talked to Luis at length and got a lot of interesting info about Tony and the shop and its future. (Mostly in Spanish, so I'm sure I missed a lot.) So I'm glad I drove up to the shop. I met some cool fellow Indy fans and basked in some Indy history.

I was blessed. I never expected to own a Nowak, and now I'm the proud owner of two. :o

"Oildale Jones",
Congratulations on your purchases from the Tony Nowak Originals shop. Great investments, sir. :goodjob: At least your were not only fortunate enough to meet fellow "Fortune and Glory" members but, also Mr. Riley Barrie himself. Envious of everyone who the opportunity to do so.

Hope your son enjoys the "Last Crusade" jacket. As for your purchase of Mr. Nowak's (rest in peace) personal "ROTLA" jacket...cherish and enjoy that beautiful jacket which is basically a part of a great history in our hobby.

Hopefully soon, Mr. Barrie will have the TNO shop up and running and taking personal custom orders soon.

Wow! Seeing the pics of your Shiny Goat jacket I wish I had bought it now. It's beautiful. I already have a vintage goat though and I'm really happy for you that you were able to get that fantastic jacket. Any chance of getting some photos of you wearing it. Would love to see it on you now that it was altered for you.

Finally got some shots of me wearing the goat.

It's something like four inches longer all around than my Todd's and my Hero.

These are actually grabs from my Flip HD camera, which is why the zipper looks like a rainbow.

I'm not sure the "swing" shots really show the flexibility of the leather all that much. If you move quickly or violently enough, even a jacket this stiff will look flexible.

Really "digging" that shirt, "Oildale Jones". Knew I should've bought it when it was available.

There is just something about a Tony Nowak Originals "Indiana Jones" styled jacket that "captures" the look regardless of what film the jacket is to respresent. IMHO, Mr. Nowak's (Rest in Peace) creations were "works of art".

Beautiful jacket. Man, can not get enough of seeing TNO "Indiana Jones" jackets.

Wear the jacket proudly and enjoy the jacket in great health, sir. Mr. Nowak wouldn't have it any other way.

:toast:

Thanks. I feel honored to possess it. After looking at the pictures over and over, it occurred to me that although it feels a little too roomy around the middle, it looks really good. I just wish the weather would finally cool off. It's still ridiculously warm in SoCal.

I remember that hide from years ago - maybe it was shots of that actual jacket because I just love the batshit-crazy, over the top chunky horizontal patina and the overall industrial look it brings. Always wished I could have got a Surrogates out of it. Congratulations on your uber-cool score.

One of these days you should throw some fullers earth on that baby and wear it with the whole gear deal. I'll bet that would look killer.

Yeah, now I'm suffering from jealousy that I don't have it. Even though it was made for Big Tony, it still looks great on you. You have his height. I know the leather is stiff and I don't think it will soften up over time. But, if you wear it in direct sunlight and get the leather warm it goes very buttery soft. Cool it down and it stiffens back up. Interesting characteristic and property of the leather. Man, I really like that jacket!

It's like wearing a sofa. On further inspection it's too billowy in the front chest. I can live with that.

Ok. Now we need a pic with it zipped :)

And yeah Tony had some........uh bulk.

Jeez. I find it easier to just video myself and then grab frames later than to try to get my wife to take pictures. Maybe I'll just do video from now on.

It's a thought.

Oildale, that last shot looked so awesome, I had to honor it by creating this:

(The fact that your opponent is Justin Bieber is coincidental; he just happened to be in the right position.)

I should never, ever, ever have let that jacket get away from me :)

I'm sure Tony would be honoured to see it in such a good condition. It looks superb.
