I'm so psyched for the new film with the best Bond since Connery!

Totally agreed....It looks like a (nother) great Bond movie...I love the Craig versions...As much fun as Bond has always been, I did always feel that the gadgets got pride of place sometimes, and the acting was left beside the point somewhat..Along with plot and "threat"....Not bad, just not "Bond" especially...Craig brings it right back to what made Connery so good at it...The REAL presence when acting....

Great stuff...

Yes. Not a massive Bond fan but I quite agree that Craig is the best since Connery. I actually thought Quantum of Solace was pretty good despite some of the negative reviews. Gritty- which is how I prefer my 007

I thought QoS was a typical second movie - not as good as the first one, which was outstanding, imho. I hope Skyfall follows the typical pattern of being better than the second and possibly Casino Royale, as well.

:agree: with all of the above.

I think Quantum of Solace had a lot going for it tone and execution-wise (and it featured my car in the awesome opening chase scene, so I'm happy about that!). It just lacked a decent threat. The baddie was a wuss and there was no real sense of danger. Though Casino Royale was excellent, it did have the occassional clunky Bond OTT weirdness creeping in like the improbably-collapsing Venice building.

All signs are pointing to Skyfall rocking as the best yet.

I loved Casino Royale best Bond movie to date - IMHO

I said to my wife that QoS was just one chase scene after another - no real story to draw you in. Later I read from a Time Out interview that Daniel Craig stated he and the director pretty much made it up as they went along due to the writers strike going on at that time. Hence they threw in lots of action scenes...and not much else.

Skyfall looks the part - although I read somewhere else, (can't remember where though), that they were going to make it less gritty and go back to the one-liners etc. Not sure I like that idea much - think after the positive reception they got with Casino Royale that they would stick with that formula. I guess we shall see..

Hopefully, 'gritty' and one-liners aren't mutually exclusive. Grittiness, with the occasional one-liner to break the tension can be a good thing.

:agree: but...

That said, Bond's lighter side will come to the surface in the film itself, with Craig promising that the script will be peppered with a few of 007's trademark one-liners. “You have to have a script that has the bones of comedy,” said Craig. “Comedy in Bond films, for me, comes out of the situations people get into."

"They're exciting, and hopefully heart-stopping," he continues, "and the comedy comes out of one-liners and things. There's a lightness of touch in the writing that's not been as evident in the past two."

... the last sentence could mean anything - but it seems to indicate a move away from Casino Royale as well - maybe I should not read to much into it - have to reserve judgement until I see it.

That sounds like a plan. :agree:

It's a shame if they move back in that direction. We've had years of cheese from Moore and Brosnan. The grittiness has been refreshing - to me at least
