My current 'fave'.

This is a Hero in a thin cowhide, it's been wetted down and scrunched a bit and then worn for a few months. It has a nice drape but not the weight and stiffness of full thickness cow. Love it!

Sorry about the horrible photos. Seems the sun is still avoiding us in London.

Is this Westeds current Lambtouch or is "thin cowhide" different then their lambtouch?
Couple years back when I was fat I had this Lambtouch:

smelled like Plastic. Had a fashion jackets leather touch.
It felt cheap. But OK I also think Westeds standard lambskin is poor ;)

I believe that this is not the old lambtouch. That was very thin and shiny, I didn't like it.

This is quite 'leather' in it's smell.

"KT" was the "lightweight cowhide" something Wested had in stock?

Before seeing the Antique Lambtouch leather on the Wested website, I contacted Gemma about what was the lightest and thinnest cowhide leather they had available and it was stated that the soft seal cowhide was what they had.

BTW, great looking jacket. :goodjob:

That is probably what they are calling it, the description fits. The bundles vary in thickness, so ask for whichever is your preference. Mine is on at the thinner end.

I also chucked my several years old lambskin on the mannikin to see how it looks. I still love this jacket too. :)

Very nice. Is this a "mainstream" offering or something of a special offering like the oil pulled cowhide?

--Nevermind, got my answer. So we're probably looking at soft seal cowhide then.

Still awaiting word from Gemma concerning the Wested offering of the Antique Lambtouch hide but, after seeing your jacket "KT", and it is the soft seal cowhide, I am leaning HEAVILY towards the soft seal cowhide as my hide of choice for my "Hero" jacket.

Beautiful jacket, "KT". Man.. Hopefully Gemma will get back to me soon.

After seeing "KT Templar's" jacket, along with finding out the weight of the "Soft Seal Cowhide" as compared to "Lambskin", I "pulled the trigger" on standard "Hero" jacket in "Soft Seal Cowhide". Also sent an email requesting the thinnest available "soft seal cowhide". Thanks "KT" for the assistance in this matter. :goodjob:

Just wanted a "Hero" jacket in a lightweight but, durable leather. If I recall correctly, I read somewhere that the "Hero" jacket from Wested would be Mr. Peter Botwright's "swan song" before retiring. So, to be safe, purchased the "Hero" in a leather that I didn't have to worry too much about.

Anxiously awaiting for it's arrival.

Lol! Something like that!

It's well into double figures plus various ones from most of the 'other' sellers, though those ones never end up in the rotation of the ones that get worn.

After ordering my Wested "Hero" jacket in soft seal cowhide on March 9th, it arrived this afternoon, March 19th. Preliminary report...absolutely, positively LOVE this jacket. Yeah...I know... :pics:

When time and my schedule permits, I will post pictures, along with a more detailed review, in a seperate thread. "KT Templar", I sincerely thank you for your assistance concerning the leather of the jacket. For that I humbly :hail: before you. Loving the soft seal cowhide. No waxy shine to it. As "KT" stated, wrinkles up nicely and my jacket's leather has some grain to it which only adds to it. And if, I didn't know better, I would have thought it was lambskin leather due to the weight or lack thereof.

Time to sell off some of my other "ROTLA" jackets.
