Thank's for posting IndyClone25. I couldn't find the other two videos he mentions: How to shape from scratch the "Raiders" Fedora and How to take care of your "Raiders" Fedora. Do you know where those are located.

Been waiting for Todd to open up his thread for questions, but you mentioned about comparing to the downtowner and uptowner. Do you have any insights into this new fedora.

he hasn't posted the other video to youtube yet, well so far (from the video) it looks as if this hat is softer than the downtowner ( much along the way the uptowner was softer and easier to fix if crumpled) i will be getting it hopefully in about a week and i will do a review on video and post it on youtube . i am really happy about this hat .

Hey , Folks.
Well i have my hat and I must say it is very nice! The hat is very soft to the touch. Much like the "Uptowner" you are able to move the brim around to adjust and the crown is easy enough to make your own bash to. I got my hat preshaped , but I was happy with the bash on top and fiddled with it for a few seconds to make it look nice to the way I like the hat to look. The hat was a bit short in the crown than the "Downtowner" but along the same height as the "Uptowner." I have pics of all my hats from Todd's from the "Downtowner"(version one) to the "Raider." I did love the color of the hat and the band seemed to look much darker ,too, than the "Downtowner" and the "Uptowner.''
so i think has another winning hat on his hands, so for you folks that don't have a a decent hat yet , look into the "Raider." :TOH:

The "Downtowner (version one and two)

The "Downtowner" and the "Uptowner"

The "Uptowner and the "Raider

the "Raider" on my head

Showing that brim is flexible

my measurements on my hat are brim front and back 2 3/8 inches
sides are 2 1/2 inches and crown was ( surprising) 5 inches and back was 4 1/2 inches

so very good measurements , maybe it just doesnt look good in the photos i shot , but i just finished the video and it does klook good on my head , just as good as the downtowner , i will post the link to my video as soon as its domne uploading , ( but once again) i am having problems loading from my computer as i did ona previous video and had to upload it thru my son's youtube account. hopefully i will be able to put it on mine eventually.

i was asked on my youtube page to add a few more pictures of the hat , here are some with more sunlight hitting the hat from the front room of my huose , i hope it shows more color. and as you can see i fixed the ribbon on my hat cause it was raised is some of the earlier photos .

Thank you for the video review, along with the additional photos and comparisons, of Todd's Costumes new offering, "Indyclone25". Much appreciated in you taking the time and effort to do so. :) :whip:
As you have mentioned, that new offering would make a nice "Last Crusade" fedora. Seriously thinking of purchasing one.

Looks like a good LC-ish hat to me, especially in some of those shots. The brim front and back measurements are way too small for a Raiders. He should have called it a Crusader! :)

What do you mean by 5" high? Is that open crown? Because its way too high for a front crease and too short for Raiders block height. 4.5 at the back seems weird.

when i measured it from the bottom of the ribbon ( next to the brim) to the top of the indentation of the crease in the hat it was 5 inches --- it surprised me that it was that tall ,because it didnt look that tall to me .

Can you double check the size of your brim? The front and back should be closer to 3". 2 3/8" is shorter than the sides.

Did you punch up the crown a little? The crown is 5 1/2" and is designed to look the best @ 4 1/2" front, 3 1/2" back. The extra height looks good on you, but it makes the crown look very round on the top.

i'll play with the crown a bit , i really don't want to lower it , like you i like the height, i am just one of those folks that the height looks good on , just like the downtowner version 1 i have .it looks good in pictures , and i will measure the brim again and maybe photograph it and post it , i really am not could with the percents in measurements, lol but if it will give more accurate reading on the hat , all the better . ;D

Great information. Thank you for taking the video and posting all the information. I'm still not completely sure the differences between this hat and the other ones that make it a whole new model of hat. From what you described it sounds kinda like it combined elements of the downtowner and uptowner?

The hat I received had only two inch side brims, and large globs of glue right where the front pinch goes

That's not good! Did you send it back?

na, I should have, but I had already started bashing the thing and didn't think he'd take it back. Besides, I didn't start on it untill a few days had passed and by then the box it can in had already made its way to the bin. I like a challenge, so I grabbed the globs and yanked. They came off with the lining at the top inside of the crown with no damage to the outside of the felt. I can now at least bash it. The brim is still way short on the sides, but looks very Temple of Doomish, so...

I've been following Indyclone's hat adventures for quite some time now. I've seen him in his DT, his UT (if that's the smaller hat he was wearing a while ago), and now this Raider.

To me, he looks best in the DT. It suits his build best, imho. His opinions on which of his hats he thinks he looks best in may be different than mine. He may be in favor of whatever hat is the closest possible to a screen-used hat. Maybe he is more in favor of what looks best on him even of it's not as close to a screen-used item as possible. But whatever he thinks, regardless of how he leans, is what is most important for him and his clothing selections.

This brings me to a concept I introduced over at COW a couple of years ago that I will now bring up here because it is the way I approach all my clothing choices. I am offering up this concept to help expand the talk on this site.

I don't go for screen accuracy. I want clothing and accessories, including hats, to look good on me. That's why, when choosing a hat, for example, I look for, and then modify, a garment so it looks best on me while reminding me of a look I'm trying, not to duplicate, but to remind me of. It's called screen reminiscence.

My hats, jacket, shirts, etc, are not direct copies of any film garment. They are in the style of Indiana Jones, most of them featuring all the main and basic details, but not necessarily the perfect size, shape, or materials. I, for one, do not sweat about the shape of the buckle or the exact color of brown on my Mk VII's bag strap, for example.

I want to have stuff that looks like, or reminds me of, the stuff in the film. To what level my stuff comes close to the film-used stuff is entirely up to me. All that matters is that it looks good on me, and when I look in the mirror I think that it as closely as what satisfies me, resembles something Indiana Jones wore.

Bugs I think you have it spot on. I love my raiders hats but to be honest they all look too tall on me compared to how Ford carried them off. I like vintage clothing generally and im much happier wearing a suit and my very tapered, lower crown, narrower brim fedora as I think it suits my face far more

I'd have to agree with you on this one also Bugs. I wear my rebashed, trimmed down, tapered, fawn colored Stetson more than any other hat I own. It has a wider brim much like an outback. It's by far my favorite lid simply because I trimmed it, I rebashed it, and found it for ten bucks at a thrift shop. It used to be a full blown cowboy hat. But once I replaced the band with one off an old DP that shrunk, it looks very Indy to me. Just not to Indy. So yes sir, I agree with your way of thinking as far as my norm in everyday attire. But when the time arises and the whip is strapped on, well, I want as close to SA as I can get.

i'm with you Bugs! i love my downtowner the best , i think it looks the best on me ,i have bought the other hats , but i have aslo bought them in different sizes . my downtowners i have ( i have 3 ) are all size 58. and my raider and my uptowner is 57. maybe the latter would looka bit better if i had gotten them in 58's too . but i wear the hats for diffrent things , my raider is my dress hat , when i'm wearing a nice shirt and tie i wear that , cause to me it looks more like a l.c hatstyle . my uptowner hasn't been worn for about 6 months since i bought my second and third downtowners . my son will eventually get the uptowner when it fits head better . , but like many of you , you by diffrent hats from many makers . you like the style , i just happened to like the way the hat's looked on todd's website , on many other websites the hat's don't look that appealing to me , but alas to each his own , right ? enjoy what we wear , is there a right and wrong , not that i can see . :)
