There has been much discussion over the years suggesting the I-J jacket was too early to have had a zipper, that it would have had buttons. This despite evidence of use of zippers in jackets, particularly the A-2 in 1930 when it was in development as a prototype flight jacket. (this is the reason the A-2 has a 1930 spec date despite it officially being introduced and pattern finalised in 1931)

Take a look at Amelia Erhart's jacket in this photo signed and dated 1926

There's been a lot of misinformation spread (I'm thinking of one person in particular). Thanks for showing this little tangent to be a red herring, RC.

This 1933 Spiegel catalog features three jackets with "lightning-fast Talon Zipper(s)":

No, that person is right. There were no zippers back then.
You faked the signature. You ought to be banned for a week or so to learn how to behave in here.

I don't understand how common, easy to find information can be challenged there so regularly. :wtf:

I'm not sure what's being said here, but Amelia's jacket looks great! Wouldn't mind getting one for my girlfriend ;)

And who cares if it was supposed to have buttons instead of a zipper.

All of Ford's jackets DID have ZIPPERS, isn't that why we're all here? 8) Just sayin'....seem's childish to start a debate on this really.

You are correct, and it certainly isn't a debate. Facts are facts

Not that we're debating here, but here's a page from a 1936 Sears catalog with nothing but zippered jackets. Raiders was supposed to take place in '36.

In the Bullshit Land they hadn't invented zippers in 1936 yet

Are we talking left handed or right handed zippers because one may not have been developed until many years later..... :lolhit:
