Well I just got this and I am very very happy with it.

It seems like you can get the same jacket for $195 in cowhide (which would be good too) but I am glad we paid the extra $100 for the striated lambskin. I always wanted a lambskin jacket like the one I felt/saw in stores like Macy's and Gottschalks (the ones that were like $500-100) and it turned out to be just like that. Even the smell smells mall like.

I was worried that since some jackets have lots of striations and panels from different sheep that panels on mine would be mismatched but everything is totally consistent. Very happy about that. As far as the striations go I could have gone either way, all striated or smooth. On a scale I'd say mine is 15-25% noticeably striated, which is fine since like I said it's consistent.

The fit is wonderful. Since I'm on the short side (I'm a size 42S in suit size) I am used to long jackets. So this jacket felt foreign to me but it turned out to look like it was made just for me and being of a size/height not of average, I can't tell you how good that makes me feel. It was tailored for me. I feel like it looks like such a bad ass jacket.

I have a goatskin jacket too and that one feels a bit heavier but less substantial with leather that feels a bit thinner... and it is SO much colder. I have frozen my butt off in that goatskin. This lambskin jacket though feels SO warm with just the leather and the nylon liner. But I can easily wear it on a cooler summer night I believe. It's just nice to be able to wear a jacket that will keep me warm for a change. On the flip side though, the goatskin felt indestructable while this one feels a bit more fragile. Like it could tear, snag or rip much easier. Not a problem though, I want to take care of this one and will just buy another one in the future if need be; I like it that much. It might have to do with the pattern but it's also a very smooth, soft leather.

It is also very thick. It's weird though that it is so thick yet drapes like a thin jacket like I'd see in Raiders. The best way to describe how it looks, with my hands in the handwarmer pockets, is to look at Chekov's jacket in Star Trek 4 when they're on the streets of San Francisco. That's oddly enough a jacket I've always liked.

I'm wondering how fast this jacket will age and what it will look like? If more striations will show up etc?

Some concerns:

It did not come with tags (like you'd find at a store with price stickers etc) but the returns policy said to keep tags on. Should I be concerned?

I don't know if I can get this one wet or not? My goatskin seemed to LIKE getting wet.

And the most important one, there seems to be a stitch in the handwarmer pockets that is pulling at the leather, I'm not sure whether or not to be concerned? Should I do anything to prevent damage? Pics below.

I think you are the firs tone to actually say they had recieved an imported Striated lamb. I assume this is the Legend pattern, but the back panel looks different to me.

In the photo of the pocket issue, is the leather torn where the thread is loose?

Oh yes my bad it is the Legend (maybe you can edit it into the title for me, I didn't see an edit button).

The gaps did surprise me...
Though they've said that it was supposedly a bit different on the import? It still feels fitted to me and a bit more slim fitting than other large jackets.

And for the pocket. It looks like there was probably a hole there for the stitch but it spread open a little bit to about half a cm.

Now I just read on Indygear that they're offering the USA made one for $295. Oh man what a bummer.

Exchange this for one, as the pocket has flaws

Which is about the right price for these. Wings has a policy of posting high prices and then having 'endless sales'.

They have big economies of scale and cookie cutter (literally) leather cutting machines. They should be able to deliver jackets at very low cost.

The US made is a more correct jacket than the Import in a few details, well apart from the zipper, and the collar, and the length....

Leather is nice, NZ merino... I can buy 6 skins (enough for 1 jacket) for about $100 and that's retail. Trade price should be less.

BTW mismatched is good in my book, it's the whole point of getting the ribbyness! To mirror the mismatched panels on the film jacket. :)

Would USA be shorter or longer?

Couple of pics I've seen of the domestic ones they have been quite long on people, one of the guys was smaller (Croft) so it made sense, the other is about 6ft IIRC so it shouldn't have been so long on him (Holt). But never seen a Import on anyone so have no idea!

I must say I love this jacket. For SA maybe a different route but for fashion it's great. I would buy a second if this got damaged. Not sure what to think about the pricing at this point

I'd exchange the jacket now if you still can. I had a US made Legend, and it had a similar pocket issue. One Sunday morning when I walked into sunday school class one of the little kids I teach barely tugged on my pocket and it ripped a 3 inch hole in my jacket.
After the headaches of getting the jacket, I decided I'd just deal with it and find a leather person who could repair the jacket rather than go through wings again.

Starfighter,

Thank you for posting those pics. I've been waiting to see one of those jackets for a long time.
If you don't mind, could you confirm the country of origin? It should be printed on the back side of the size tab that hangs off the bottom of the USW label.

The pattern used for the Imported SL is definately different than the cowhide version of the Legend Imports.

Yes it is different but still slimmer than normal and a lil shorter than normal jackets
Made in China

Interesting to finally see an import Legend. I do love the ribby Merino hide. Like several have suggested, I would see about exchanging this since you have a pocket issue and see about the new price. That is a bummer to pay that much over what it just went on sale for.

They don't have any left but to be honest I think the jacket is great and they've offered to fix it.
What did it go on sale for?

Nevermind, I was confused. It's the US made version that's on sale for $295.

Again, a nice jacket and, apparently, pretty rare as yours is the only one I've seen.

Ya the leather and the color are very nice. Do you think it'd still be possible to get this leather in the future for another jacket someday? Or at least similar... Shiny and soft

That's the first Import I've seen as well.

After my experience with "Sarge" and the gang, I would NEVER buy anything from those guys. All the back and forth and wishy washy broken promises, over promises and IMO a sub-par Raiders jacket that was touted as though it would be the Holy Grail of screen accurate "Cooper-Pattern" perfection, turned out to be just one hoax after another. Not ONE of those jackets (although nice looking jackets) look anything like a Raiders (ToD, LC) jacket. The back panels look WHACK to me..."gaps" like the grand canyon, square panels and just weird lines.

That aside, it's still a nice looking jacket and i wouldn't say no to owning one...I just would buy one. I kinda feel about those guys like some folks feel about Wested.

Just my 2 cents.
